Folarin "Falz" Falana is our man crush this Monday!

Falz is one of the very few Nigerian celebrities who can boast of being well-versed and across-the-board talented.

Learn more about why Folarin "Falz" Falana is our man crush this Monday!

Folarin Falana, popularly known as "Falz the bahd guy" or simply "Falz", was born on October 27, 1990, in Lagos, Nigeria. He is the son of reputable human rights lawyers and activists, Femi and Funmi Falana.

Falz spent his early years studying in Nigeria before moving to University of Reading England where he graduated with an LLB honours degree in Law. He was eventually called to bar at Nigerian Law School, Abuja in 2012.

With music coming naturally to Folarin, he started a music group with his friend, compiled and released his first mixtape while in secondary school in 2009.

Since then, Falz has become a notable name in the Nigerian music industry winning numerous awards such as the 2016 BET awards for Best New International Act and 2016 City People Entertainment Awards for Best Album.

He is one of the few artists who can boast of being across-the-board talented. Not only is he a successful lawyer, he is a talented singer and songwriter, a comedian, an actor and television personality. Falz is also the only Nigerian musician to have won two AMVCA awards — Best Actor in a Comedy Movie/Series in 2016 and Best Supporting Actor in 2018.

Folarin is not only an achiever but also an activist like his father. His cover song "This is Nigeria", a nod to Childish Gambino's "This is America", got a lot of media and political buzz for exposing the ills and challenges of Nigeria. Though it was banned from playing on the airwaves, the song got people speculatively calling him the "Fela of this generation".

The hardworking and effortlessly multi-talented spirit is why Folarin Falana is our #MCM today!
