Super Eagles: Rohr, Iwobi, Ekong react to victory over Poland

Victor Moses

Victor Moses scored the only goal of the game as Nigeria beat Poland 1-0.

Super Eagles head coach Gernot RohrAlex Iwobi, William Troost Ekong and several players have reacted to the 1-0 victory over Poland on Friday, March 23.

The Super Eagles were able to grind out a gritty win over Poland via a penalty converted by Victor Moses in the 60th minute.

The victory means that Gernot Rohr has only lost one game since he has been in charge of the Eagles.

Speaking after the narrow victory, Rohr still emphasized that the Super Eagles are still in preparation mode for the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

In his post-match conference, Rohr stated that he has a young team and the victory over Poland does not make Nigeria World Cup contenders.

He said, "my team is a young team but also a team of leaders. If we stay humble & continue to work hard to improve our play we have huge potentials, but beating 2 FIFA top 10 teams in friendlies doesn’t mean we are now World Cup favourites."

Despite downplaying expectations of Nigerian football lovers, Rohr still gave credit to his team for a well-deserved victory over a higher ranked side.

"We were lucky to have won this game against a very solid Polish side. They created some big opportunities to score and were dangerous from set pieces that we found difficult to cope with but I praise my team for their victory." Rohr said
