Rasheedat Ajibade the saviour for the Super Falcons again, as her hattrick sends Nigeria to the WAFU Women's Cup semi-finals

The Super Falcons of Nigeria on Saturday, February 17 defeated Senegal 3 - 0 in their second match of the ongoing West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Women’s Cup in Cote d’Ivoire, to progress to the semi-final.

The Falcons had earlier defeated their West African counterparts by a lone goal scored by Under 20 Striker Rasheedat Ajibade.

Newly Unveiled Super Falcons Coach Thomas Dennerby, was in charge for the encounter, and he named a strong eleven against Senegal who defeated Togo 6 - 0 in their opening match.

The Super Falcons aimed to avoid a repeat of their late winner against Mali, as they took the lead in the 22nd minute through Rasheedat Ajibade.

Rasheedat who plays in the Nigerian Women’s Football League for FC Robo Queens, doubled the lead in the 32nd minute and scored what will turn out to be the last goal of the game in the 38th minute.

Rasheedat's hattrick against Senegal means she is still the only goalscorer for the Falcons at the competition.

Her performance against Senegal also earned her the woman of the match award, and increased her tally to four goals in the competition.

The victory gave the reigning African Champions all three points, and also a spot in the semi-final of the competition.

There is still one round of matches to be played in the group stage.

The Super Falcons will take on Togo in their final group game on Monday, February 19 (4pm Nigerian time), while Mali will take on Senegal to determine who joins Nigeria from the group on the semi-final.
