Communication and Language Art students meet industry experts

The summit is designed to promote critical thinking, encourage positive approach and engagement in communication.

Association of Communication and Language Art students (ACLAS) of the University of Ibadan recently organised a summit to interact with experts in media and communication profession.

The symposium held at the First Bank Hall in the University was aimed at giving students the opportunity to learn from the industry leaders invited to the program.

According to the President of the association, Moses Richoffor, the summit is also designed to promote critical thinking, encourage positive approach and engagement in communication and breed the need for necessary curiosity and problem-solving among Nigerian youths.

 

To achieve the summit's objectives, the event featured five industry experts to share their knowledge and experience in the media and communication industry with the students.

Moreover, the theme for the summit is ''Communication and the Nigerian Economy; what youths can do to succeed and stand out''.

Guest speakers at the event include Osagie Alonge, Editor in Chief, Pulse; Ozone Mbanefo, CEO 02 Academy Lagos; Yemi Omitola, Head of Strategy and Business, Niche Communications; Joke Rogers, Head of Presentation Department, Channels Television and Kunle Shittu, Head, Corporate Communications, Lapo Microfinance  Bank, West Africa.

The summit, which is open to students of tertiary institutions nationwide recorded a large turn-out of undergraduates, youths, university staff and other media practitioners around Ibadan.

Presentation of award to winners of the Dapo Olorunyomi National Essay Competition and plaques to invited guests marked the highlight of the summit.

Dapo Olorunyomi National Essay Competition is an initiative of Department of Communication and Language Arts, University of Ibadan.
