From cases to sexual harassment to a dramatic season of Big Brother Naija, here are 7 most controversial movie/TV moments in 2017.

What would the Nigerian movie and TV industry be if it didn’t ruffle a few feathers or start contentious conversations?

From aftermath of an alleged copyright infringement case to cases of sexual harassment, 2017 didn't fall short of controversial moments.

In descending order, check out those moments.

1. Cases of sexual harassment in Nollywood

In November, an Instagram user posted an allegation that  Yoruba actor Yomi Fabiyi harassed her sexually over nine years ago.

According to the woman named Eniola Omoshalewa Eunice, Fabiyi demanded for a sexual favour in exchange for a role in a movie.

Fabiyi denied the allegation, describing the accusations as a "pull him down by all mean syndrome," and placed a bounty on Eunice.

Also in November, an aspiring Nollywood actress accused popular Yoruba actor Yemi Solade of demanding for sex in exchange for a movie role.

According to the accuser Lawal Dolapo, the actor had invited her to a guest house after she shared her interest in acting with him.

She said that after she questioned the location and described him as a father to her, the actor said “I know my children, and you are not one. If you want a role, then come”

Solade responded, accusing bloggers of paying Dolapo, and threatening lawsuit.

2. Gideon Okeke vs Chinwetalu Agu

In January, Gideon Okeke came under attack for challenging the National Film Video Censors Board (NFVCB) to censor Chiwetalu Agu's 'vulgar slangs' on screen.

His comment started a conversation on censorship, and in a series of tweets, his colleague Chioma Chukwuka reacted, stating that the new generation of actors have no morals.

While Gideon didn’t have Chukwuka and a majority of the Twittersphere on his side, he had Tony One Week, who also condemned Agu's vulgarity and expressed his disappointment at Chukwuka.

Chiwetalu Agu reacted to the drama, saying that he had never heard the name 'Gideon Okeke.'

3. When TBoss failed to recite the national anthem

During a truth and dare game on Big Brother Naija show, things took a bad turn when Debie-Rise dared TBoss to recite the first and second verses of the Nigerian National Anthem.

TBoss struggled for a moment, and after she failed to recite it, she called Debie-Rise a "wicked person" for asking her to recite something she'd learnt in another language and hadn't sung in years.

Days later, she started another controversial conversation on social media after she said she wasn't in the house for the money, could spend 25 million in a week, and had wealthy men with private jets hitting on her.

"Without the 'mediocrity' of a Charles Novia, we wouldn't have arrived at the brilliance of a Kemi Adetiba," Jideonwu tweeted.

Novia, who isn't one to shy away from social media disputes, took to Twitter to react to Chude's comments, listing his accomplishments as a filmmaker.

The tweets from Novia and Chude, as expected, elicited reactions from filmmakers, actors and followers.
