Here are five of the very best places to go paragliding in Africa. Add them to your adventure travel bucket list!

1. South Africa

If you’re into paragliding or hang gliding, South Africa has a real treat in store for you. For them, the sky is the limit!

In the country’s hot interior, amazing thermals help many paragliders and hang gliders to record-breaking distance flights, particularly in the Northern Cape province.

You can head to the coastal Eastern Province, KwaZulu-Natal or Western Cape, or inland to Mpumalanga province for a fantastic experience.

2. Ghana

The Ghana Paragliding Festival has become an integral part of the annual Easter celebrations in Ghana. The festival attracts both Ghanaians and foreigners alike for more than 3 days of spectacular aerial fun, ceremony and music.

The festival also helps the local community by raising donations to aid community development efforts. The efforts of several pilots over the years, with the help of the Cloudbase Foundation, has raised enough funding to donate to a local orphanage in Kwahu.

3. Uganda

Although Uganda has just one paragliding operator, it's totally worth it!

Take a trip to Uganda and go paragliding with Fly Mami Afrika. Located in Mount Wanale in the Eastern Province of Uganda. The company also uses proceeds to build a school in the rural community. Talk about paragliding for a humanitarian goal.
