Sevilla have announced that manager Eduardo Berizzo is recovering after undergoing successful surgery for prostate cancer.
Eduardo Berizzo, 48, was recently diagnosed with the condition, which became publicly known in the aftermath of the Spanish side’s 3-3 draw with Liverpool last week.
Berizzo will now spend time recuperating before taking his place on the sidelines, with assistant Ernesto Marcucci being placed in temporary charge of first-team affairs in the meantime.
A Sevilla statement read: “The recovery period of the Argentine coach will depend on the post-operative evolution in the coming days.”
