The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has advocated for the rights of the girl-child to education in the Northern part of the country.
Sanusi while speaking at the flag off of the second phase of the immunization campaign in Ajingi Local Government Area of Kano State on Wednesday, November 22, said the girl-child education is the only key to development.
The Emir said an educated girl would grow to become a woman who can effectively take care of the home and thus ensure a healthy society.

Sanusi added that women and children formed 70 % of Nigeria population and that taking proper care of the percentage would lead to building a better nation that is capable of attaining all its intended developmental goals.
The Emir of Kano who was the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria between 2009 and 2014 is an advocate of girl-child education in Northern Nigeria.
In 2013, Sanusi condemned the low literacy level in the North saying 93% of Northern girls lack secondary education.
