JAY Z Admits He Cheated On Beyonce, Reveals Therapy Kept Them From Divorce

Jay Z, who had apparently hinted on 4:44 that he had cheated on his wife Beyonce, has now outrightly admitted to the accusations of infidelity, after her 2016 album Lemonade alluded to him of being unfaithful.

He got real about everything from his marriage to Beyoncé to his mother’s sexuality and his relationship with Kanye West on Wednesday during an interview with T Magazine.

The hip hop legend and Grammy award winner did not only admitted that he been unfaithful to his wife of nine years, but also said that therapy kept them from getting divorced.

“You have to survive. So you go into survival mode, and when you go into survival mode, what happens? You shut down all emotions. So, even with women, you gonna shut down emotionally, so you can’t connect. … In my case, like, it’s deep. And then all the things happen from there: infidelity,” he said during the interview with New York Times executive editor Dean Baquet.

Jay Z also spoke about listening to Lemonade for the first time, and Beyoncé’s experience listening to his album 4:44, describing the experience as “uncomfortable” for them both.

“But the best place in the hurricane is in the middle of it. The best place is right in the middle of the pain. And that’s where we were sitting,” he said.

“And it was uncomfortable. And we had a lot of conversations.  [I was] really proud of the music she made, and she was really proud of the art I released. And, you know, at the end of the day we really have a healthy respect for one another’s craft. I think she’s amazing.”

He added that “the hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself.”

Jay confirmed that he and Bey worked on a joint album together around the time Lemonade dropped and that they “still have a lot of that music” that is unreleased.

“We were using our art almost like a therapy session. And we started making music together. And then the music she was making at that time was further along. So, her album came out as opposed to the joint album that we were working on.”

He added: “We still have a lot of that music. And this is what it became. There was never a point where it was like, “I’m making this album.” I was right there the entire time.”

He also spoke of weathering storms in their relationship. “You know, most people walk away, and like divorce rate is like 50 percent or something ’cause most people can’t see themselves,” he said.

Hova also discussed the current state of his sometimes contentious relationship with Kanye West, which he described as “complicated.”

“I’ve always been like his big brother,” Jay-Z said in the interview. “And we’re both entertainers. It’s always been like a little underlying competition with your big brother. And we both love and respect each other’s art, too. So it’s like, we both — everyone wants to be the greatest in the world.”

Jay recently talked to West, saying that “there’s genuine love there.” And even though there’s tension, “in the long relationship, you know, hopefully when we’re 89 we look at this six months or whatever time and we laugh at that.”
