Bayelsa Enlists Services Of 250 Youths To Combat Oil Theft

The Bayelsa State government said it has recruited not more than 250 youths to work with the state Oil and Gas Taskforce in tackling oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

Gov. Seriake Dickson while inaugurating the new taskforce on Friday said the is for the youths in the state to be actively engaged in curbing revenue loss from pipeline vandalism.
The governor through his Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, Mr Felix Bonny-Ayah who represented him added that it is imperative to secure oil and gas infrastructure against vandalism, bunkering and other anti social vices for the good of the state and the nation.
According to him, the taskforce would also be used to shut down facilities of companies that violate laid down rules.
Meanwhile, Dickson, has sounded a note of warning to the new employees not to see their recruitment as an opportunity to acquire wealth as he also enjoined them to remain law abiding citizens of the state and the country at large.
