Fayose Reacts As EFCC Taunts Him |”We’re Expecting You Soon”

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has reacted after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) taunted him following the failure of his preferred candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, at the polls.

The anti-graft agency had threatened to arrest him via a Twitter post it released on Sunday, July 15, over an alleged failed poultry project.

In a tweet, that has already been deleted as of the time of writing this report, the EFCC reminded Fayose that his tenure is coming to an end in less than three months, coupled with the loss of his immunity. It further urged the governor to begin to prepare to visit the commission.

The tweet read, “The parri (party) is over; the cloak of immunity torn apart and the staff broken.

“Ekiti Integrated Poultry Project/Biological concepts Limited N1.3bn fraud case file dusted off the shelves. See you soon.”

The tweet was however met with outrage from a large section of Nigerians as they accused the anti-graft agency of being unprofessional and fighting a one-sided anti-corruption war.

In his reply, the undaunted governor said he will not abscond from Nigeria when his immunity from criminal prosecution elapses in October.

“He is not afraid of anything. What are they going to do to him. Is EFCC the court of law?” Mr Fayose’s spokesperson, Lere Olayinka, told newsmen on Sunday night.

“The governor will hand over when the day comes in October,” Mr Olayinka said, adding that “and if it is necessary that he should go to the EFCC for questioning after leaving office, he will go and meet them.”
