Trabzonspor Midfielder Ogenyi Onazi Set For £4million Move To Birmingham

Harry Redknapp has confirmed Birmingham are chasing Trabzonspor midfieder  Ogenyi Onazi and Bristol City’s Aden Flint

The Nigerian only joined Trabzonspor last summer and racked up 32 league appearances during his first season in Turkey.

He still has three years left on his initial deal but now it has been claimed that he is already on his way out.

Onazi, 24, is no stranger to hassling and harrying opponents on the football field but those battling qualities have also been put into practice on the streets of Rome while he was with Serie A club Lazio.

If Onazi does arrive at St Andrew’s, he will finally wear Blue. The Nigerian destroyer had trials at Premier League giants Chelsea earlier in his career but failed to make the grade. He also spent time with Greek club Panathinaikos before Lazio handed him an opportunity.

“I had a trial game with the second team [at Lazio]. The director then said he wanted to see us with the first team. After we played with the first team, he offered us a four-year contract,” he says.

He spent five years with Lazio in total before heading to Turkey last year with Trabzonspor. His future was thrown into uncertainty earlier this summer as he threatened to quit the club over unpaid wages, but that dispute has since been resolved.
