Roberto Aguayo struggled with his accuracy almost immediately upon entering the NFL.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived kicker Roberto Aguayo less than two years after drafting him in the second round of the 2016 draft.
Aguayo set an NCAA record with Florida State for accuracy, prompting the Buccaneers to trade up to draft him.
However, Aguayo almost immediately struggled with accuracy in the NFL, missing nine of 31 field goal attempts and two of 34 extra-point attempts in 2016. His 71% accuracy on field goals was the lowest in the NFL.
In a preseason game on Friday, Aguayo missed an extra-point attempt in the second quarter and a crucial fourth-quarter field goal attempt.
Aguayo worked with a mental coach during his rookie year to try to overcome his misses.
The Bucs will move forward with veteran kicker Nick Folk.
