Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo has urged the church to partner government in the development of a strong, peaceful and corruption-free society.
Obaseki made the call when he received the President of Evangelical Church Winning All, the Rev. Jeremiah Gado, at Government House in Benin on Tuesday.
He said that the cause of the present challenge in the country was more of bad leadership on the part of government.
He said when crises occurred in the society, the society resorted to the church hence the need for the church to take specific steps to build the society with the government.
‘’The church has a role to ensure stability in the society and partnership with the church is something we must strengthen,’’ he said.
Earlier, Gado said he was on a pastoral visit to Edo and Delta states and that the church would like to extend some of its social services to people of Edo subject to availability of land.
He said the church built schools and hospitals, as part of its commitment to the spiritual and physical well-being of members and also as a strategy to reaching out to people yet to accept Christ.

He appealed to the governor to use his good office to speak for the oppressed, widows, orphans, voiceless, poor and improve on the lots of unemployed youths in the state.
Gado also lauded the developmental strides of the state government, especially in the area of roads, and prayed for the success of the administration and the Edo people.
