IAAF World Championships: Team Nigeria Day 9 review (Saturday, August 12)

Nigeria’s Women’s 4x400m relay team- the quartet of Patience Okon-George, Glory Nathaniel, Emerald Egwim and Yinka Ajai made it into the final

Team Nigeria medal hopes stayed alive on Day Nine of the ongoing IAAF World Championships in London.

Running in Lane 2 in the second heat, Team Nigeria ran a Season’s Best (SB) of 3:25.40 to finish second behind the Jamaican Team who finished in SB of 3.23.64.

The final of the 4x400m comes up on Sunday, August 13.

Nigeria’s Women’s 4x100m relay team failed to show up when the heats took place earlier in the day.

On Day eight (Friday, August 11) another Team Nigeria medal hope was dashed as Blessing Okagbare lost out in the final of the women’s Long Jump.

 

The Nigerian athlete had a jump of  6.55m, which placed her 8th overall in the standings.

In Women’s 100m Hurdles, Nigeria runners Tobi Amusan and Lindsey Lindley failed to make it to the final.

Amusan first ran a 12.97s to finish 3rd  in the heat to qualify for the semi-final where she finished fourth in 13.04s to crash out.

Lindley ran 13.18s to finish 7th in her semifinal heat.
