Google Trends: Here’s what has been trending for the past week

Fans searched Google using search terms ‘download medicine by wizkid’, ‘download medicine by wizkid mp3’, and ‘download wizkid medicine’.

There is probably no bigger pointer of what the Nigerian internet public is interested in at a particular time than trending Google searches. From the good people at Google, here are the topics Nigerians were most interested in over the previous week:

 

• El Clasico: Barca Vs Real Madrid — Not surprisingly, Nigerians love their football and they were not disappointed as two of the biggest teams in the world gave a thrilling 90-minute performance in which Gerard Pique’s winner tilted the game in Barcelona’s favor, the Catalan team winning the game by three goals to two. All the stars were on show too (except Cristiano Ronaldo), particularly new world-record PSG signing Neymar who delivered two assists. Search terms included: ‘real madrid vs barcelona miami’, and ‘fc barcelona vs real madrid’.

 

• Davido Feat. Young Thug x Rae Sremmurd — Omo Baba Olowo himself already has two hit songs this year with “If” and “Fall” so he teamed up with three consistent hitmakers and aimed for the global hit. Nigerians searched: ‘pere by davido’, ‘download pere by davido’, ‘davido pere mp3’, and ‘davido pere video’.

• Arsenal v Benfica: Four-time winners Arsenal opened their account in the 2017 Emirates Cup competition with an emphatic 5–2 win over Benfica. Searches include: ‘arsenal vs benfica highlights’, ‘arsenal vs benfica live’,
  ‘arsenal vs benfica live stream’, and ‘arsenal vs benfica results’.

 

• Jeff Bezos become the richest man in the world: For about 24 hours, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos was the richest man in the world, toppling Microsoft founder Bill Gates who has been the richest man in the world for the better part of the last two decades. Google searches in Nigeria included: ‘jeff bezos net worth’, ‘who is jeff bezos’, ‘jeff bezos biography’, ‘bill gates’, and ‘richest man in the world’.

 

• Wizkid releases new song ‘Medicine’: Barely two weeks after releasing his latest body of work Sounds From The Other Side (SFTOS), Wizkid released a new track produced my MasterKraft. Fans searched Google using search terms ‘download medicine by wizkid’, ‘download medicine by wizkid mp3’, and ‘download wizkid medicine’.
