Ajax announced on Wednesday, August 9 that they have signed a four-year-old contract with the 29-year-old.

After training with Ajax Cape Town for a few weeks, Nigerian player Ejike Uzoenyi has been given a contract by the South African club.

Uzoenyi had an injury-plagued stint with reigning South African Premier Division (PSL) champions Bidvest Wits which he joined in January 2017.

Ajax announced on Wednesday, August 9 that they have signed a four-year-old contract with the 29-year-old.

The forward is in line to make his debut for his new club in their league opening trip to his former club Bidvest Wits.

Ajax Cape Town is Uzoenyi’s third South African club after playing for Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits.

Uzoenyi kicked off his career with Enyimba before moving to Enugu Rangers.

Loan stints to French club Rennes did not materialise into a permanent stay before he secured a move to Mamelodi Sundowns.

He didn’t quite settle at Sundowns and after another loan move back to Enugu Rangers, the forward joined Bidvest Wits in January 2017.

Injuries prevented him from having an impact at Bits although he won the 2017 PSL title with them.

Uzoenyi has several caps for the Super Eagles, making the squad to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

He also represented Super Eagles Team B at the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa where he impressed and was named the Player of the Tournament.
