5 Video Games That Was Not Worth The Hype

There’s nothing as bad as spending your hard earned cash on a video game only to be disappointed with the content. Every avid video game player as at one time or the other been burnt by bad games as a result of following the Hype of the game developers who mostly plant false hope into the minds of gamers.

If you’re keen about avoiding falling into the trap of buying a video game you wouldn’t enjoy later on, here are five games that are not worth the Hype.

Final Fantasy XIV Online

Final fantasy XIV
One thing that we can’t take away from this game is the amazing graphics and music it comes with. This however isn’t the only thing you will be looking out for as the first version of Final Fantasy XIV Online fell short in a number of areas to become a big failure.

The game sure looks good on on the outside but lacks the draft touches that would have made it something to die for. The reviews of this game has so far shown that it’s not worth any avid gamers time as Square Enix stopped subscriptions and started over from scratch, in an attempt to build a new game.

This resulted in the reboot, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which made its way to the video game industry almost five years after the original. The Reborn was well-received by both gamers and critics and this all but made us all forget the failure of Final Fantasy XIV Online.

Knack

Knack video game
Knack was one of the launch titles of Sony’s PlayStation 4 and was one of the games that was saddled with the responsibility of setting up the console’s future and success. The game was however a disaster and Sony should be glad they had other games to carry the console to success.

The gameplay of knack was terrible, as players would die from the smallest encounters and have to backtrack a ton. This made for very frustrating play. Add this with the weak storyline and crappy gameplay and you will almost die with boredom.

Ryse: Son of Rome

This game was developed by Crytek, who were also responsible for making the Crysis series. Ryse: Son of Rome was supposed to be one of the Xbox One’s coolest titles, entailing players take on the role of a Roman centurion as they embark on a blood-soaked quest for revenge.

The developers however made the mistake of changing Ryse from a Kinect-heavy first-person title to a third-person hack-and-slash game. By the time the game was released, Ryse was beautiful, but repetitive. This made it boring and very much below par.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)

Sonic the hedgehog
2006 was the 15th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, and this somewhat necessitated Sega releasing a game they called Sonic the Hedgehog. The game was characterised by the activities of Sonic as he was tasked with saving a princess named Elise from Doctor Eggman.

The developers however appeared to have rushed the game and it was a major departure from the book. This resulted in a clunky game that had poor controls, long load times, and a host of glitches. While the title character of the game is about speed, the game was pretty slow and the Hype surrounding it didn’t make playing it any better.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

Star wars the force awakens
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II continued with the adventure of Starkiller. One thing that was supposed to make the game fun was the ability to control Darth Vader’s secret apprentice, a dude who wields the Force with unimaginable strength, but that was unfortunately the down part of the game.

Despite the fact that this game captured the same size and scope of the original, The Force Unleashed II failed to deliver a good story and was characterised with a lot of repetitive combat. While there’s some cool stuff such as hacking enemies and tricking them to meet their doom, the weak story of this game weakens the story and kills the fun.
