Tech: Uber Nigeria partners local auto company for better riding experience

Taxi service booms in Nigeria, eyes expansion to French-speaking West Africa

This partnership is noted to be only restricted to Lagos, and driver-partners can now maintain and service their cars at a stipulated fees.

A leading transportation tech giant, Uber Nigeria has sealed a vehicle maintenance pact with Germaine Auto Centre.

The deal which was signed on Friday, July 14, 2017, is aimed at ensuring cars deployed with Uber’s driver partners are in good shape and users are offered better riding experience.

Getting a ride through some of these tech apps have been a trendy phenomenon in Nigeria like most African countries. Thus, competition in the African most populous countries has been tensed among competing vehicle service tech companies.

This partnership is noted to be only restricted to Lagos, and driver-partners can now maintain and service their cars at a stipulated fees.

Country Manager for Uber Nigeria, Maria Rotilu told newsmen at the signing briefing that the program goal is to instil maintenance culture among its driver-partners at a reduced cost.

"Driver-partners across Nigeria are important to us, and we are looking for ways to help them access more value through our many partnerships and further amplify the advantages that come to them from being valuable partners.”

"Germaine Auto Centre is a market leader, and for as little as N3,000, they will provide vehicle maintenance services to Uber driver-partners in Lagos," she said.
